Course Overview
The course is designed to aid Primary Care Physicians in identifying precancerous, cancerous, and benign lesions of the skin. Throughout the course, attendees will learn about the different forms of skin cancer, from Actinic Keratosis, Basal Cell Carcinoma, Melanomas, and other cutaneous malignancies. In addition, there will be an intensive review of procedures for treating cutaneous manifestations of internal malignancies such as curettage, desiccation, electrodesiccation, excisional removal, cryosurgery and photodynamic therapies.
Essential surgical skills for Primary Care Dermatological Procedures include the review of instruments, biopsy techniques, incisional, suturing, hemostasis, and specialized procedures such as ingrown toenails, intralesional injections, and electrodesiccation and curettage.
Covering the 40 most common dermatological conditions, this 2-Day course to be held at the hotel covers different treatment options from conventional drugs to other interventional procedures such as hypertrophic scarring and acne protocols for moderate and severe acne.
Course Objectives
- Perform different dermatology procedures in an outpatient setting: cryosurgery, electrosurgery, biopsy, and excision with skin repair
- Identify numerous skin lesions that can be treated surgically in a primary care setting
- Use all available types of equipment for different dermatological procedures
- Ensure consistent and appropriate reimbursement for each procedure by following established protocols
- Use different marketing strategies in order to offer dermatology services to new and existing patients
